Plot
Somewhere in Texas in the year 1858, several male slaves are being driven by the Speck Brothers, Ace and Dicky. Among the shackled slaves is Django, sold off and separated from his wife, Broomhilda. The Speck Brothers are stopped by Dr. King Schultz, a German dentist and bounty hunter. Schultz asks to buy one of the slaves, but while questioning Django about his knowledge of the Brittle Brothers, for whom Schultz is carrying a warrant, he irritates Ace who aims his shotgun at Schultz. Schultz quickly kills Ace and leaves Dicky at the mercy of the other newly-freed slaves. Since Django can identify the Brittle Brothers, Schultz offers Django his freedom in exchange for his help in tracking them down. After executing the Brittles, Django partners with Schultz through the winter and becomes his apprentice. Schultz explains that, being the first person he has ever given freedom to, he feels responsible for Django and is driven to help him in his quest to rescue Broomhilda. Upon first learning of her name, Schultz tells Django the tale of the mythical German valkyrie, Brünnhilde.
Django, now fully trained, collects his first bounty, keeping the handbill as a good luck charm. In Mississippi, Schultz uncovers the identity of Broomhilda's owner, Calvin Candie, the charming but brutal owner of Candyland, aplantation where slaves are forced to fight to the death in boxing matches called "Mandingo fights." Schultz, expecting Candie will not entertain offers for Broomhilda if they are forthright, devises a ruse to purchase one of Candie's prized fighters, purchase Broomhilda on the side, then disappear before the deal is finalized. Schultz and Django meet Candie at a club in Greenville and submit their offer. His greed tickled, Candie invites them to Candyland. After he secretly debriefs Broomhilda on the plan, Schultz moves to the next step, claiming to be charmed by the German-speaking Broomhilda.
During dinner, Candie's staunchly loyal senior house slave and overseer, Stephen, becomes suspicious. He deduces that Django and Broomhilda know each other and that the sale of the Mandingo fighter is just a misdirection. Stephen alerts Candie, who subsequently extorts the bounty hunters with Broomhilda's life for the complete bid amount. Schultz yields and, after the money is paid and the paperwork signed, Candie demands a formal handshake from Schultz to finalize the deal. Schultz, disgusted, shoots him through the heart with a concealed derringer. Schultz then apologizes to Django before he himself is fatally shot by one of Candie's henchman before either Broomhilda or Django can react. In the ensuing gun battle, Django kills many of the remaining henchmen but surrenders once Broomhilda is taken hostage at gunpoint.
The next morning, Django is informed by Stephen that he will be sold to a mine and worked to death. En route to the mine, Django proves to his escorts that he is a bounty hunter by showing them the handbill from his first kill. He then convinces them of a very large bounty for a man back at Candyland, of which they would receive the majority, should Django be released. Once Django is uncuffed and given a pistol, he swiftly kills his captors, takes their dynamite and rides back, alone, to Candyland.
Returning to the plantation, Django discovers Schultz's body in a stable, takes Broomhilda's freedom papers and says auf wiedersehen to his fallen mentor. Django releases Broomhilda from her improvised cell. When Candie's mourners return from his funeral, Django guns down Candie's remaining henchmen and Candie's sister. Django then releases the two house slaves and shoots Stephen in the knees, crippling him. As Stephen angrily curses Django, Django ignites the dynamite he has planted throughout the mansion and leaves Stephen to be killed. He and Broomhilda watch from a distance as the mansion explodes before riding off into the night.

The author's note is an integral part of the novel. Unusually, the note describes entirely fictional events. It serves to establish and enforce one of the novel's main themes: the relativity of truth.
Life of Pi is divided into three sections. In the first section the main character Pi Patel, an adultCanadian, reminisces about his childhood in India. His father owns a zoo in Pondicherry. The livelihood provides the family with a relatively affluent lifestyle and some understanding of animal psychology. Pi describes how he acquired his full name, Piscine Molitor Patel, as a tribute to the swimming pool in France. After hearing schoolmates tease him by transforming the first name into "Pissing", he establishes the short form of his name as "Pi" when he starts secondary school. The name, he says, pays tribute to the irrational number which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. In describing his experiences Pi describes several other unusual situations involving proper names. Two visitors to the zoo, one a devout Muslimand one a committed atheist, bear identical names. A memorably ferocious tiger at the zoo bears the name Richard Parker as the result of a clerical error in which human and animal names were reversed.[9]
Pi is raised a Hindu who practises vegetarianism. As a fourteen-year-old he investigatesChristianity and Islam and decides to become an adherent of all three religions, saying he "just wants to love God."[10][11] He tries to understand God through the lens of each religion and comes to recognize benefits in each one.
Shifting government policies lead to a decision by Pi's father to sell the zoo and emigrate with his wife and two sons to Canada. The second part of the novel begins with Pi's family aboard theTsimtsum, the Japanese freighter that is transporting animals from their zoo to North America. A few days out of port from Manila, the ship encounters a storm and sinks. Pi manages to escape in a small lifeboat, only to learn that the boat also holds a spotted hyena, an injuredGrant's zebra, and an orangutan. To Pi's distress, the hyena soon kills the zebra and then the orangutan. At this point Pi learns that a 450-pound Bengal tiger has been hiding under the boat's tarpaulin: Richard Parker, who had boarded the lifeboat with ambivalent assistance from Pi himself. The tiger kills and eats the hyena.
Frightened, Pi constructs a small raft out of rescue flotation devices, tethers it to the stern of the boat and retreats to it. He begins conditioning Richard Parker to take a submissive role by using food as a positive reinforcer and seasickness as a punishment mechanism while using a whistle for signals. Pi asserts himself as the alpha animal and is eventually able to share the boat with Richard Parker.
Pi recounts various events while adrift in the Pacific Ocean. At his lowest point exposure renders him blind, feeble and unable to catch fish. In a state of delirium he talks with a marine "echo" that he eventually identifies as Richard Parker finally speaking up, then identifies as another survivor on another lifeboat who is also blinded by exposure and dying. They share dreams of food. The other voice speaks with a French accent and prefers meat to the vegetarian fare Pi longs for. Pi welcomes this "brother" aboard his boat. The other person moves to attack and eat Pi but is instead devoured by Richard Parker, who springs out at him from under the tarpaulin. Later, his sight restored, Pi's boat comes ashore on a floating island network of algaeand inhabited by meerkats. Pi gains strength but his discovery that the island's plant life iscarnivorous forces him to return to the boat. Two hundred and twenty-seven days after the ship's sinking, the lifeboat washes onto a beach in Mexico. Richard Parker disappears into the nearby jungle without a glance back.
The third part of the novel describes a conversation between Pi and two officials from the Japanese Ministry of Transport who are conducting an inquiry into the shipwreck. They meet him at the hospital in Mexico where he is recovering. Pi tells them his tale but the officials reject it as unbelievable. Pi then offers them a second story in which he is adrift on a lifeboat not with zoo animals, but with the ship's cook, a Taiwanese sailor with a broken leg, and his own mother. The cook amputates the sailor's leg for use as fishing bait, then kills the sailor and Pi's mother for food. Pi then kills the cook and dines on him.
The officials note parallels between the two stories and conclude that the hyena symbolizes the cook, the zebra the sailor, the orangutan Pi's mother, and the tiger Pi. Pi points out that neither story can be proven and neither explains the cause of the shipwreck. He asks the officials which story they prefer. They choose the story with the animals. Pi thanks them and says "And so it goes with God."

Plot :
Childhood friends Dan Walker (Kevin Zegers) and Joe Lynch (Shawn Ashmore) along with Dan's girlfriend Parker O'Neill (Emma Bell) spend a Sunday afternoon at a New England ski resort on Mount Holliston. Not wanting to pay full price for three ski lift tickets, Dan convinces Parker to bribe the ski lift attendant Jason (Ed Ackerman) to let them all on the ski lift. On the way up, the ski lift shuts down, but starts back up again shortly. After spending all afternoon watching Parker fall over herself because she cannot snowboard, the guys are eager to take one last run down the mountain before they go home. However, it is now evening, and the ski resort decides to close early because a storm is moving in.
The friends remind Jason of the bribe and convince him to let them on the ski lift one last time. At this point the resort is almost deserted. Before the group gets all the way to the top, Jason is called into the boss's office and is replaced by a co-worker Rifkin (Adam Johnson). As Jason leaves, he tells Rifkin that there are only three skiers left and then the ski lift can be shut down. Another set of three skiers comes down the mountain. When Rifkin sees them, he shuts down the ski lift stranding the three central characters in their ski lift chair far above the ground.
The friends are first annoyed as they assume that there's another technical difficulty with the ski lift. A few minutes later, however, the lights go out scaring the three skiers. Parker, convinced the ski slopes have closed for the week, reminds the boys that it's Sunday and the slopes re-open Friday. Night has come and a snow storm moves in. After a while, a snowcat comes along and it seems as if the driver Cody (Kane Hodder) is about to see them. However, at the last second, Cody is called back to base. After several hours, the friends realize that no one is coming to get them and that they could be stuck up there all week, as the resort is closed on weekdays. Parker then loses her right glove while smoking. Dan realizes he has no choice but to jump from the ski lift chair and get help, as they will not survive up there in the bitter cold until Friday.
Dan jumps off the lift onto a hard section of the ski path and suffers a compound fracture in both of his legs. Later on, he is approached by a wolf who growls at him, but Parker throws her snowboard at it and it runs away. Joe, now fearing for Dan's safety, decides to climb up and traverse the ski lift cable so that he can get to a chair that is closer to the ground. However, after traversing a few feet, he returns to his chair with his gloves cut and holds Parker, to prevent her watching the scene below. Dan has now been surrounded by a pack of wolves who devour him, horrifying Parker and Joe. Later on, Joe and Parker have a fight in which Joe furiously accuses Parker of being too insensitive and only caring about herself, while Parker blames him for not dissuading Dan from jumping. However, they soon make up.
In the morning, Parker wakes up with her right hand stuck to the ski lift safety bar, which she has grabbed in her sleep. She painfully pulls it free, losing skin in the process. In addition, she has developed a bad case of frostbite on her face. After a few hours, Joe climbs up, traverses the ski lift cable, severely cutting his gloves in the process, and this time safely climbs down the ladder of a support pole two chairs back. At the same time, Parker's ski lift chair begins tipping as it has started to loosen from its supporting cable. After fighting off a pair of wolves by using a ski pole, Joe slides down the mountain on Parker's snowboard, planning to return with help for her; the wolves chase after him.
Another night passes and no one has shown up to help Parker. She now realizes that something happened to Joe. The next day, she begins to attempt to jump down herself, but the bolt holding the lift chair fails; the chair drops some twenty feet but is caught by a supporting cable. Parker jumps down, now from a fairly safe height, but is injured after the lift chair falls on her ankle. She then alternately slides and crawls down the mountain, pausing when she sees a streak of blood in the snow and is then approached by a wolf. After sizing her up, the wolf returns to the nearby pack, Parker sees that the pack has caught and killed Joe and is now finishing off his remains. Completely traumatized, Parker makes it the rest of the way down the mountain to a nearby road. Eventually a car appears and the driver stops to assist her. While driving, the man calls the hospital and tells them that he had found a girl hurt outside of the ski resort.

Main Plot:
Bob Ho (Jackie Chan) is a Chinese super-spy on loan to the CIA who decides to retire so he can be with neighbor next-door and girlfriend, Gillian (Amber Valletta), who doesn't know his real job. Gillian's father is in the hospital and Bob says he can babysit her kids Farren (Madeline Carroll), Ian (Will Shadley), and Nora (Alina Foley), while Gillian visits him. Farren and Ian, while Bob is sleeping, sneak into Bob's house and Ian accidentally downloads a top-secret formula from his computer. Bob's archenemy, a Russian terrorist named Anton Poldark (Magnús Scheving), who developed a substance that dissolves petroleum, moves in and attacks Bob's house to find the formula, forcing Bob to juggle the roles of spy and prospective stepfather in the most challenging mission of his career, to protect Gillian's children. Bob asks Colton James (Billy Ray Cyrus), his spy partner in the neighbourhood, to help him, but he is not sure if he can trust Colton. Matters are further complicated when a Russian secret spy, Larry (Lucas Till) attacks Bob in search of Poldark and his men, forcing him to tell Ian, Nora, Farren, and Gillian that he is actually a spy. In addition, Bob discovers that his boss, Glaze (George Lopez), is actually working for Poldark and the Russians, and that Poldark plans to destroy the oil supply everywhere but Russia, so that he could become the world oil magnate and get the world domination. Bob manages to escape and flees to Gillian's home. Soon, Poldark arrives and engages Bob in a fight with his henchmen. At the end, the CIA come to arrest Poldark, Glaze, Larry, Creel and the rest of Poldark's team. Bob then marries Gillian. He then reveals that his name really isn't Bob, but Gillian doesn't seem to care.

Plot:
Lane is looking for her "magic man". A man who has all of the attributes that are on her checklist. In the meantime she finally hears her calling when a job opportunity presents itself in the form of Cosmo magazine. After failing to impress the editor they head out of the office when they begin talking men. There Lane (Hillary Duff) has the idea to combine dating and work place. After causing a blackout at her job interview she lands the job in an office to begin her undercover work. After dating several co-workers she happens to spill her drink on a "magic man candidate" Liam. However her boss isn't impress by the direction she tries to take her story and tries to get her to stop dating Liam

Summary
After her sister and brother-in-law die in a car accident, a young woman becomes the guardian of their three children. Helen Harris (Kate Hudson) is very successful in the fashion industry and has a nice Manhattan lifestyle which keeps her extremely occupied and content. Helen's world suddenly changes when her sister Lindsay (Felicity Huffman) and brother-in-law Paul (Sean O'Bryan) die in a car accident.

Helen and her other sister Jenny (Joan Cusack) are in shock when they hear Lindsay & Paul left Helen in charge of their three kids: 15-year-old Audrey (Hayden Panettiere), 10-year-old Henry (Spencer Breslin), and five-year-old Sarah (Abigail Breslin). Convinced she can raise the kids and maintain her already fast-paced schedule, Helen quickly finds herself burnt out and disheartened by her responsibilities and Jenny's lack of faith.
Despite her already hectic schedule, Helen finds the time to develop a genuine affection for her new dependents, as well as an equally genuine attraction to Dan Parker (John Corbett), the kids' school principal and local Lutheran pastor. Eventually, Helen realizes she can't balance the two lives, and is faced with a difficult decision, her fashion career or her nieces and nephew.

Plot:
